Privacy
This page explains what happens to your personal information when you use this website or get in touch. It is written in plain English because there is very little to explain.
Who is responsible
Lynne Barrett, trading as Serenity Therapies, is the data controller. That means she decides what happens to any personal information you give her.
Suite 6, Station Street Business Centre2-4 Station Street, Rainhill, Prescot, Merseyside, L35 0LP07555 209059What this website collects
Only what you type into the enquiry form, and only if you send it. There is no account to create, no payment to make, and nothing at all is collected from you just for reading the pages.
The form asks for your name, your email address, and a short message saying what you would like to know. You can also add a phone number, say which treatment you are asking about, and choose how you would like her to reply. The phone number is optional unless you ask her to reply by phone, text or WhatsApp, because she cannot do that without one.
The form does not ask about your health, and it asks you not to put health details in the message. That is deliberate. Health information is treated as special category data under UK data protection law and an email inbox is the wrong place for it. Anything relevant to your treatment is better said in person.
The site sets no cookies. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel and no tracking of any kind, so there is no cookie banner to dismiss and nothing to opt out of. Every image, font and file the site loads comes from the site itself, and the form sends only to this website, so no other company sees that you visited or watches you fill it in.
When you get in touch
An enquiry sent through the form arrives in Lynne’s email inbox. She uses it to answer you and to arrange an appointment if that is what you want, and for nothing else. She will not add you to a mailing list, because there is not one.
You can also reach her by phone, by text, on WhatsApp or by message on Instagram. Those all happen away from this website, but they are routes it offers, so they are worth explaining.
If you phone her, she will have your number and whatever you tell her. If you message her on Instagram, that conversation sits in Instagram and is handled by Meta under Meta’s own privacy policy, not hers and not this website’s. She uses what you send only to answer you and to arrange an appointment if that is what you want.
The lawful basis for all of this is that you asked her to get in touch: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and her legitimate interest in replying to people who contact her business. The tick box on the form is a record that you had seen this page before you sent it, not the lawful basis itself.
Please do not send details of a health condition through Instagram. If something is relevant to your treatment, tell her in person or by phone. Anything she keeps as part of treating you is handled in her practice and is not covered by this page, which is about the website only.
How long enquiries are kept
Enquiry messages sent through this website are kept for twelve months and then deleted. An enquiry that does not turn into an appointment is deleted once it is clear it is going nowhere. If an enquiry leads to an appointment, any records kept about your treatment are held separately.
Who else sees it
An enquiry from the form is delivered by Resend, an email service acting on Lynne’s behalf, and then sits in her inbox with whoever provides that mailbox. Both handle it in order to deliver it and for nothing else.
For a phone call or a text, your mobile network and hers carry it, as they would any message. For an Instagram or WhatsApp message, Meta holds it. Nobody else is involved: there is no mailing list, no customer database and no other service behind the site.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask Lynne to:
- tell you what information she holds about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete what she holds;
- stop or limit what she does with it, including objecting to her keeping it at all;
- hand it to you or someone else in a portable form.
Ask by phone or by post using the details above. She has a month to respond and it costs you nothing.
Complaining
If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, tell Lynne first and give her the chance to put it right. If that does not resolve it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk. You can go to them without telling her first if you would rather.
Changes
If the website changes in a way that affects any of this, for example if a contact form or analytics are added, this page is updated before that change goes live.
